NO JULY MEETING NEXT MEETING AUGUST 1ST 2008

The Club was officially created on September 26, 1994, with 10 carvers.  By-laws were written and officially approved on November 4, 1994.  Officers were elected and the Club was on its way with 18 members at the second meeting.

Our monthly meetings usually end with a “Show & Tell” session.  Carvers are encouraged to show their new works and discuss any problems or new methods used which may be helpful to other carvers.

We have periodic demonstrations and lectures explaining some interesting aspect of carving or new techniques.

Our mission is to promote carving in our community and to assist new carvers who wish to try different types of carving – In The Round, Chip Carving, Wood Burning, Bark Carving, Cane carving, Birds, Fish, - and hope that we can be a part of the joy they find in turning “that piece of wood into something beautiful.”

Each Member has their own page with pictures of their carvings.  At the presant time, only members with an asterick * after their name have provided pictures for this web site.

Visitors are always welcome to our carving sessions and club meetings.  The Nature Coast Carving Club members range in skills from the very beginner to the most advanced.

Club members may take advantage of our library with numerous books, patterns, reference lists and catalogs, which may be checked out, at the East Citrus Community Center.  A copy machine is also available.  At all of the carving sessions, helpful assistance is provided by our many experienced woodcarvers – we just love to help new carvers get started!

The Club provides carving classes during the year at nominal cost for those who wish to improve their carving skills.

The Nature Coast Carving Club is active in the community.  We have woodcarving displays in libraries and encourage our members to submit entries in the Citrus County Fair and State Fair.  We have a large permanent display at the Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park.  We also donate money to the Lakes Region Library for the purchase of new woodcarving books and videos and furnish a “wish list” books which we feel would supplement those purchased in the past

Our club has carving sessions three times a week.  We enjoy great fellowship while working on individual projects.

To join the club fill out the Membership Application and bring it to one of the Carving Sessions or Monthly Meeting.
